Grasse and Cannes: an exhibition, theatre or a first concert with your baby
For autumn outings, I suggest three very different choices: photographed perfume bottles at the museum in Grasse, a text by Laurent Mauvignier performed with a voice and a guitar, and a concert designed for very young children in Cannes La Bocca. Choose according to who is coming with you. The exhibition can wait for a free day; theatre and music are scheduled for 2 and 3 October.
In Grasse, look at perfume bottles with Guillaume Barclay
At the International Perfume Museum, “Une Nuit au Musée – Signée Barclay” brings bottles from the collections together with photographs by Guillaume Barclay. The artist works with fibre-optic light; objects, prints and projections make up the visit.
If you already know the MIP, this exhibition gives you a reason to return. I suggest comparing a bottle with its photograph: what does the light reveal, and what does it let disappear? With friends interested in photography or antique objects, it is a way into the museum through a specific subject.
The exhibition runs from 12 September 2026 to 7 March 2027, during normal museum hours. Keep it for a day when you would rather be indoors, then have lunch or walk through central Grasse. The gardens and other perfume visits can make a separate outing.
Mauvignier, for an evening of theatre that invites conversation
“Ce que j’appelle oubli” tells of a man beaten to death after drinking a beer in a supermarket. The company IL VA SANS DIRE performs Laurent Mauvignier's narrative with a voice and a guitar. This is for audiences interested in a demanding text. The subject is violent, even though the staging is spare.
On Friday 2 October at 8 pm, the Théâtre de Grasse performance is reserved for TDG cardholders and requires booking. On Saturday the 3rd at 2 pm, you can see it at La Strada cinema in Mouans-Sartoux, with free admission as part of the book festival. Running time is 1 hour 10 minutes, for ages 13 and over.
With a teenager, discuss the subject before choosing this outing. For Mouans-Sartoux, arrive early: free admission does not reserve a seat. You can then stay at the book festival, depending on that day's programme.
In Cannes La Bocca, thirty minutes of music with little ones
On Saturday 3 October, the Orchestre national de Cannes Baby Concert is performed at 9.15 am and 10.45 am at the Auditorium des Arlucs. I recommend choosing the session that fits best between your child's waking, feeding and nap times.
The concert lasts about thirty minutes. Coming and going is accepted, a changing area is provided, and pushchairs can be left under supervision. You do not have to wait until your child can sit still through an entire performance before introducing them to the orchestra.
Book your seats with the orchestra and note the address: 24/26 avenue des Arlucs, Cannes La Bocca. Keep the rest of the morning simple. For a first musical outing, the concert can quite happily be the whole plan.
