MIPCOM 2026: renting out your Cannes villa with Emilie looking after the welcome

Your villa will be free in October. You are considering renting it out during MIPCOM, but you will not be there to prepare the house, hand over the keys or deal with a gate that will not open on arrival night. Before offering those dates, one question deserves an answer: who will know your property well enough to welcome the guests and look after it while you are away?

MIPCOM takes place from 12 to 15 October 2026 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes. This professional market brings together people working in the creation and distribution of audiovisual content; admission requires accreditation. For an owner, it is a period to consider in the rental calendar, taking account of what the villa actually offers and how the stay would work. Dates and venue from the organiser; admission details from the Palais.

Four bedrooms do not always mean four comfortably accommodated colleagues

A house that works well for a family may not meet the needs of several people travelling for business in quite the same way. Before describing your villa, look at its layout: how many genuinely separate bedrooms, bathrooms and individual beds are there? Does anyone need to walk through one room to reach another? Is there somewhere to take a call away from the living room?

These details help you or your agency present the property clearly. A high sleeping capacity is no substitute for privacy, and a dining table alone does not describe a workspace. Recent photographs and a clear floor plan may tell prospective guests more than a long list of adjectives.

MIPCOM does not guarantee that your villa will be rented, or any particular level of income. It provides a context; the choice of accommodation will depend on factors including location, layout and the terms offered.

The journey to the Palais starts at your gate

The Palais des Festivals is at 1 boulevard de la Croisette. For a business stay, the practical question is how to get there from the property, taking account of its access arrangements. A Cannes villa may be reached by a steep route; a property in Mougins or further inland calls for planned transport.

Describe the parking accurately, where a vehicle can drop off passengers and how the gate opens. If guests arrange a driver or taxi, they need an unambiguous address and meeting point. Avoid promising a single journey time: it depends on the hour and traffic.

Share this information in advance. It helps prevent the first experience of the property from being a call made outside the wrong entrance.

In October, check the things you use less in summer

Prepare methodically, room by room. Test the Wi-Fi in bedrooms as well as the living room. Check hot water, accessible sockets near workspaces, bedside lamps and outdoor lighting. Heating should be straightforward to use if the temperature calls for it.

For equipment that needs explanation — the alarm, shutters, air conditioning or gate — provide short, understandable instructions. Equipment offered with the house should work; an additional service should only be advertised if it has been agreed.

Emilie can oversee cleaning and linen preparation under the arrangements defined with you. Preparation takes account of your standards for the property’s presentation, together with the habits and particular details you have shared with her.

A confirmed booking needs a complete handover

You or your agency retain control of the listing, prices, calendar, contracts and payments. Once the stay is confirmed and the relevant information has been passed on, Emilie provides the agreed on-site support: preparing the villa, welcoming guests personally and following up during their stay.

The handover should give the actual arrival and departure dates, which may differ from the market’s dates. Include the lead guest’s contact details, agreed arrival times, access devices to be provided and any requests you have accepted. Private rooms or areas reserved for the owner should also be clearly identified.

If the occupants intend to invite visitors or hold a business gathering at the villa, that use should be discussed with you or your agency before confirmation. Renting accommodation does not amount to permission to host an event at the property. Emilie needs to know the agreed arrangements so that she can explain them on arrival.

Someone who knows your house welcomes the guests

Keys let guests enter. A personal welcome helps them understand how the house works. Emilie explains the access arrangements, essential equipment and instructions you want respected. She welcomes guests in French, English or Swedish and introduces herself as their local contact for the agreed support.

During the stay, a property-related difficulty can therefore be reported to someone familiar with the home. If a professional needs to intervene, Emilie informs you and coordinates the work after obtaining your agreement where required. Commercial matters, booking changes and any contractual disputes remain with you or your agency.

Her role is set out in the holiday-rental guest support service. It is organised around your property and the stays entrusted to her, with arrangements defined before the occupants arrive.

After departure, know how you will find your villa

Support continues with the return of keys and access devices, agreed visual checks and a report of anything requiring your attention. Where appropriate, photographs support the report. Cleaning and resetting the property can then be overseen in accordance with the arrangements made.

If you will return yourself after the congress, mention this during preparation. Departure arrangements can then take account of your next arrival, your habits and how you would like to find your home.

Are you considering renting out your villa during MIPCOM? Share its location, layout, proposed dates and the on-site support you need. This gives you and Emilie a basis for defining suitable arrangements before entrusting her with the stay.
